Release notes
This release opens a second use alongside the photo library: documenting a body of work as a catalogue raisonné, with the rigour that implies for attribution, prints, and provenance.
Added
- Catalogue screen and artwork record: every work carries its catalogue number, titles, dating, and publication status.
- Agents directory — people, institutions, workshops — with authority identifiers (VIAF, ULAN, Wikidata, ISNI, ORCID), so the file is reconcilable from day one rather than retyped later.
- Attribution: who the work is attributed to, with what degree of certainty, and on which sources. This is the scholarly core of the catalogue and is treated as such — one accepted attribution per work, with the others kept on record.
- Prints: physical objects distinct from the work, with real dimensions, process, paper, printer, and edition (
3 / 8, artist’s proofs, closed edition). - Exhibitions, publications, and citations linked to artworks, to rebuild an exhibition history without keeping it in a separate spreadsheet.
- Provenance: chain of custody with normalised counterparties, rather than free text that resists querying.
- Review screen to validate records before publication, and a signed verifiable certificate of authenticity whose integrity can be checked independently of the software.
Changed
Behaviour change to be aware of. Provenance carried over from the previous data model is now confidential by default and no longer appears in reports until a human has reviewed it. A migration cannot know what a curator considers publishable, and a purchase price or the identity of a living buyer are commercial and personal data.
To restore those rows: clear the confidentiality flag on reviewed records in the Provenance tab, or tick inclusion with a reason for a given export. An empty section can be fixed; a disclosed buyer cannot.
